Gusti Suganda joined Tropenbos Indonesia in 2018 as a village governance facilitator. Having experience in assisting village institutions, encourage the formation of village regulations, facilitating the establishment and/or development of BUMDES and facilitates the development of marketing strategy for community products, Gusti started his involvement in community empowerment activities through a national program “Sub-District Development Program/PPK in 2002-2005, Community Empowerment National Program (PNPM Mandiri) 2005-2010 and Community Empowerment National Program in Natural Resources Management (PNPM-Green, 2010-2012) in Southeast Sulawesi. Since 2012 up to 2017 he was Field Coordinator of Yayasan Operasi Wallacea Terpadu (OWT) for TFCA Kalimantan project and MCA Indonesia.
Since joining Tropenbos Indonesia, Gusti has worked in the facilitation of multi-stakeholder working group, the establishment of village business units (BUMDes), and facilitation of oil palm smallholders in the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). He is currently also assigned as the Field Coordinator for Green Livelihood Alliance (GLA) 2.0. Program run by Tropenbos Indonesia in Ketapang-Kayong Utara Landscape, West Kalimantan, which involved activities including the facilitation for Indigenous Community Conservation Area (ICCA), promoting GAP to IPLC to sustainably manage their cultivation areas, assisting community in applying for Social Forestry scheme and improve farmers’ capacity toward the legality of their plantation and ISPO certification.
