Irpan started to acquire his expertise in shooting, editing, and sound techniques while working at an Environmental NGO in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi that produces many documentary films about environment. Since 2008 his expertise as videographer and editor was honed especially when he joined a national TV as cameraman.

After graduating from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Haluoleo University, Irpan joined Operasi Wallacea Terpadu (OWT) in 2011 as a documentary film maker focusing on forestry, biodiversity and intelligent management of sustainable natural resource management. During the time he also produced several films for NGOs, donor agencies, governments, both nationally and internationally including WWF, CI, LHH, World Bank, Danida and UNESCO. 

Currently, Irpan is actively involved in documenting Tropenbos Indonesia activities through photographs and films which continue promoting various forestry issues, conservation issues, the importance of preserving the environment, and sustainable use of forest resources.
