Dissemination of Participatory Mapping in Two Villages of Gunung Tarak Landscape

Protecting village area is important for villagers that they were very enthusiastically participate in Participatory Mapping (PM) facilitated by Tropenbos Indonesia. Result of the PM will have significant information that can be used to protect their areas from any threats, become a means to negotiate with investors who want to invest in the area, an input to local government in issuing policies related to spatial planning, and an important foundation in the formulation of land use planning for the villages.

To publish PM result done by Tropenbos Indonesia in Laman Satong village, and PM done by Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN) in Kuala Tolak village, a dissemination event supported by Ketapang District Development Agency (Bappeda) has been held in Ketapang on 24 May 2018. The collaborative event that was initiated by Tropenbos Indonesia aimed to synergize activities in both villages.
 
Opened by Head of Bappeda Harto SE. M.Si, the event was attended by 67 actors of the landscape including district and sub-district government, private sector PT Kayong Agro Lestari (KAL), local community and local NGO Perkumpulan Mitra Pembangunan (PMP). During the event, both Village Heads gave their presentation, i.e. Viktor Sriyanto of Laman Satong Village and Jolpi Dermawan of Kuala Tolak Vilage, on land use planning and village’s potentials of natural resources.
 
At the end of the event, reflection on integrated protection of natural resources and dissemination of PM results in both villages was given by expert staff in Social and Human Resources Division of Ketapang District, Harnowo. “Two mosaics of One Policy have started from these two villages, there are still two hundreds more mosaics have not been developed. Hopefully with the support of NGO friends, the mosaics can be completed in Ketapang District,” he said. (GS, HG, IRK)
