Tropenbos Indonesia (TI) provided technical training on organic fertilizer production in "Capacity Building Training for Sungai Putri Farmer Group" organized by Village Government of Sungai Putri, Matan Hilir Utara Sub-district, Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan. The activity that was carried out at Sungai Putri Village Office, on 24 September 2018, was funded by the 2018 Village Fund and attended by 20 participants from the village’s farmer group and the management of Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDes).

To improve the ability to manage tours for members of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) Lama Satong Village, Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan, Tropenbos Indonesia (TI) facilitated four Pokdarwis members to take part in the Tour Guide training held in Pontianak, 20-23 September 2018. "We saw the need to set up human resources (HR) who have the knowledge and expertise of tourism so that they will be able to develop the potential of tourism in the village," said Hendra Gunawan, TI facilitator during the discussion with the Board Pokdarwis at TI office in Ketapang, on Monday (17 September 2018).

Tropenbos Indonesia (TI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Sawit Mitra Abadi (SMA), a subsidiary of Genting Group operating in Ketapang District, West Kalimantan. The signing of the MoU was carried out by Dr. Edi Purwanto as Director of TI and Dr. Faizal Amri Amran as representative of PT SMA at the Tropenbos Indonesia office in Bogor, Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

Tropenbos Indonesia (TI) conducted a study and mapping of Social Forestry potential areas in West Kalimantan, which put forward criteria based on community needs of lands. The interim result and method of the study were discussed in the workshop entitled “Mapping of Social Forestry Potential Areas in West Kalimantan Province", held at the Orchardz Hotel in Pontianak, 21 August 2018. The event was opened by the Head of West Kalimantan Forestry Agency, and was attended by the Social Forestry Acceleration Working Group (SFA Working Group) of West Kalimantan, several Heads of Forest Management Units (FMUs) and various NGOs in West Kalimantan.

Tropenbos Indonesia (TI), Flora Fauna International (FFI), and LPHD (Village Forest Management Forum) Manjau had a meeting on 31 August 2018 to discuss on the handling-over of Manjau nursery and workplan program of the nursery post the hand-over process. The meeting resulted on the agreement that the hand over will be done on 6 September 2018. LPHD will also measure the village forest plot on the same day witnessed by TI, FFI and Manjau village government.

Tropenbos Indonesia (TI) held a discussion on Ecotourism Management of Riam Berasap in collaboration with the Office of Gunung Palung National Park (BBTNGP), PT. Kayung Agro Lestari (KAL), Yayasan ASRI, and Yayasan Palung to commemorate the National Nature Conservation Day (HKAN), Wednesday (08/15/2018). This activity was attended by 56 participants from BBTNGP, KPH, NGOs, community actors, government and Laman Satong Village community, Ketapang District, West Kalimantan.
