Peatland damage is caused by many factors, including drying through canal construction, land clearing by burning, and the chemicals used for farming. Peat forest fires generally occur on land that has been damaged. For this reason, it is necessary to adopt peat-friendly agricultural practices by cultivating agricultural plants without burning while paying attention to the sustainability of the peat ecosystem and preventing ongoing damage. Strengthening peatland farmers has been carried out in Pawan-Kepulu-Pesaguan KHG, Ketapang District, West Kalimantan Province through farmer field schools and the independent extension workers (PPS) program. Cooperation and synergy between PPS and district apparatus organizations (OPD) are key in disseminating knowledge and peat-friendly agricultural techniques that can accelerate the improvement of degraded peatlands.
