The Strengthening Forest Area Planning and Management in Kalimantan (KalFor)

Starting in 2022, Tropenbos Indonesia involves in a project called “Kalimantan Forest Project (Kalfor Project)". The KalFor project was developed by the Directorate General of Forestry Planning and Environmental Management, Ministry of Environment and Forestry (PKTL - KLHK) with funding from the United Nations Development Program's Global Environmental Facility (GEF).

Fire Project

Tropenbos Indonesia implements Fire Project in Ketapang District, West Kalimantan, since September 2021. The project is part of Wildfire Project led by Tropenbos International, funded by the Dutch Government. The Wildfire Project intends to contribute to the adoption of fire-smart territory approach in the tropics, which is expected to reduce the risk of extreme fires and achieve sustainable forest and land use for the creation of climate-smart landscapes.

Starting in 2019, Tropenbos Indonesia involves in a project called “Working Landscape, Promoting sustainable use of forests and trees for people and climate”. This project promotes climate smart landscapes in the tropics and contributes to climate change mitigation, adaptation, improved livelihoods and environmental integrity, which are crucial to support the achievement of the world’s commitment to Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Forests for a Just Future - Green Livelihoods Alliance (GLA 2.0)

The Green Livelihoods Alliance (GLA) phase 2.0 launched the “Forests for a Just Future” program (2021-2025) as a contribution to the protection of tropical forests and the empowerment of communities who live and depend directly on forests. With partner organizations in Indonesia working in a number of landscapes located in three biggest island in Indonesia, namely Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi, as well as at the national level, and with the inclusivity of women and youth, it is expected to contribute to the realization of better forest and natural resource governance in the country.
